Patera Suspension
The Patera Suspension light was created by Øivind Slaatto for the Danish lighting design label Louis Poulsen.
Louis Poulsen produces lighting that is always at the forefront of energy-saving innovation whilst also being aesthetically pleasing. Danish-born Øivind Slaatto has a background in music and design, and he is known for the simple harmony of line he brings to lighting, his area of design specialism.
The pleasing honeycomb structure of the Patera Suspension light fits easily into any room in the home while also looking just as effective in work and public spaces. In this design, Slaato has been influenced by the mathematical Fibonacci Series as well as the musical and artistic compositions of Bach and da Vinci. The many openings on the honeycomb surface allow the light source to radiate out in all directions, turning a simple white ball into a complex sculptural piece that constantly changes from different viewing angles. While light is evenly diffused around the room, a small amount is also directed upwards to create pleasing ceiling patterns. The Patera Suspension light is produced from matte PVC and takes an E27 energy saving bulb. It has a diameter of 60cm.
