The firm has set standards for furniture companies in Europe since the 19th century. Sebastian Herkner is an iconic designer of furniture and lighting products. Herkner was declared the winner of the Designer of the Year 2019 award at Maison&Objet, Paris.
The 118 SP Chair With Tacked-On Flat Upholstery features solid wood and durable, handcrafted wicker cane upholstery on the seat. The appeal of this piece comes from its minimal form ¬- it seems to be a chair that's been stripped down to its most basic elements. Despite this, the piece does have some interesting design features such as the legs which are rounded at the back but feature slight edges on the front. The backrest is 80cm in height, and the seat is 47cm in height, while the chair's general dimensions are 42 x 80 x 50 cm. It is lightweight at just 4kg; it is therefore easily portable within a domestic or restaurant setting.
