S 411 Armchair Leather
The S 411 Armchair 63x79x79cm Leather was made by the German furniture company Thonet.
Michael Thonet was a German-Austrian furniture maker who pioneered bentwood furniture through the use of hot steam. His success in producing furniture full of new shapes and curves was a revelation and won many awards and admirers, including the Austrian Imperial family. In 1853 he transferred the company to his sons and in 1859 released Chair N.14, now more commonly known as the 'bistro chair', which has seen over 50 million produced to this day. Its design won the company a gold medal at the 1867 Paris World Fair.
