The K65 High Chair Clear Lacquered Base was designed by Alvar Aalto for the brand Artek.
Alvar Aalto founded Artek in 1935. Since then it has been constantly innovative in its furniture, lighting and home accessory design. During Alvar Aalto's distinguished career as an architect and designer, he was responsible for many of Finland's public buildings as well as many iconic houses.
Just the perfect height for high-top tables and kitchen or bar counters, the K65 High Chair Clear Lacquered Base epitomises pared-back Nordic design. First designed in the 1930s, the chair was created using a system of standardised components and constructed using the innovative L-leg technique of wood bending. This technique was patented by Aalto in 1933. The round seat and low back provide visual balance while offering just the right amount of support. A curved rail at the front acts as a footrest. The legs and seat edging are crafted from solid birch while the seat base is available in a natural-look birch veneer, white painted or covered in black linoleum. The K65 High Chair Clear Lacquered Base measures 38 x 70 x 40 cm with a seat height of 59.5cm.
