The Wire Chair DKR-2 was created by Charles and Ray Eames for the leading design label Vitra.
Since its creation over 60 years ago in Switzerland, Vitra has produced high-quality furniture that fuses aesthetics with functionality. Part of the label's collection consists of reissued iconic items of the 20th century such as pieces by the celebrated partnership of Charles and Ray Eames. The multi-award-winning work of this American design duo combines their love of architectural lines with sophisticated and comfortable elegance.
Originally designed in 1951, the Wire Chair DKR-2 stands out for its lightweight, almost ethereal, look and construction and features the design duo's iconic 'Eiffel Tower Base'. The interesting curved shape that makes up the outline of the back and seat's upholstery is sometimes referred to as the 'bikini'. The Wire Chair DKR-2 is constructed from spot-welded steel wire available in a choice of finishes, while the upholstery is crafted from high-quality leather or textured Hopsak fabric. The legs are finished with felt gliders. The Wire Chair measures 51 x 85 x 49 cm with a seat height of 43cm.
