The D1 Office Chair with Armrests & Castors Frame was designed by Stefan Diez for the brand Wagner.
The Wagner family started making chairs in 1950 and became a world leader in the production of swivel chairs. Today, this multi-award winning company is based near Augsburg in southern Germany and employs more than 500 people. Appreciating the large amount of time people spend seated in both working and home environments - and the associated injury problems this creates - the company conducts extensive research into its ergonomic designs. It patented its "Dondola" seat joint which creates maximum flexibility and is now part of every chair the company produces.
The D1 Office Chair with Armrests & Castors Frame is a collaboration with specialist industrial designer Stefan Diez. Its innovation is to support the body's natural movement in any direction, with a separate tilting function for the seat and arm rests. This reduces the strain and also helps strengthen the back. The chair is minimalist in style and both lightweight and graceful, made of mesh stretched over a frame of powder-coated tubular steel, which sits on an aluminium base. For further flexibility, the seat height adjusts between 42cm and 52cm and has a maximum load of 110kg.
