The e15 Houdini Chair CH04 was developed by Stefan Diez for the manufacturer e15.
Over the last two decades this German company has earned an international name for itself with its collections of minimalist furniture made with quality materials and painstaking attention to detail. In recent years, the business has expanded into architecture and interior design with the same success. Coming from four generations of professional carpenters, it is hardly surprising that Munich-based designer Stefan Diez often creates his pieces from wood. His love of traditional handicrafts is matched by a clarity of thought that reflects the other aspect of his career as a respected teacher and academic. He has won Focus, Wallpaper and Materialica awards.
With a backrest that's only 4.5mm thick, the e15 Houdini Chair CH04 is extremely light and portable, without compromising on comfort or sturdiness. Measuring 80cm in height and 50cm in width, it has a notably angular, segmented appearance - the seat is particularly distinctive with its curving front lip and shovel-like profile. Made from solid oak and available in a selection of veneers and monochrome-painted hues bright or neutral according to taste}, it is suitable for cafes and bistros as well as domestic kitchens.
