Masters Armchair
The Masters Armchair has been created by Philippe Starck for the brand Kartell. Masters brings together elements from three of the 20th century's finest designers. Blending the unique visions of Arne Jacobsen, Eeno Saarinen and Charles Eames, it adds a dash of Starck's postmodern sensibility, resulting in an imaginative interpretation of modern design.
The chair itself stands out thanks to its sinuous curves and delicately sculpted form. It has a four-legged base and slightly curved seat, but these familiar elements are accompanied by armrests and back elements which have been woven into creative forms, casting a visual spell on everyone who sees them. Starck has used thermoplastic technopolymer for the moulded shell and legs. And, in a nod to modern requirements, he has used 100% recycled materials for every aspect of the Masters Armchair.
The Masters Armchair measures either 83cm or 84cm high, 53.5cm or 57cm wide and 47cm or 55cm deep, depending on which colour is chosen. All weigh 4.1kg, which should be easy to handle, making moving the chair simple. The chair is also completely stackable for easy storage, and Starck has ensured that it is suitable for outdoor and indoor use. So it can brighten gardens or lounge areas equally well.
