Ring Container
The arresting Ring Container was designed by the celebrated Joe Colombo for manufacturers B-Line.
Colombo was justly feted for his unique design vision that was at once innovative, ergonomic and futuristic. He received the In-Arch and ADI prizes for his work as well as a Compasso d'Oro Award. He was interested in objects being multifunctional, creating spaces where structural aspects could become furniture or where traditional furniture could become modular or be transformed into storage space. His vision encompassed both practicality and a strong visual aesthetic.
This Ring Container is a perfect example of Colombo's style: it is a container but can also be used as a small table. Its attractive twin circular cut-outs are visually striking, and by being mounted on castors, it has a practical touch. The Ring Container is a compact 34cm in length with side panels of steel and top and bottom shelves of hard-wearing, attractive oak. It can be used on its own, but when the casters are removed could also be stacked to create a geometric storage area which would add interest to any room. It's available with or without castors, in a choice of colours.
