Mushroom Stool
The Mushroom Stool has been created by Eero Aarnio for the brand Eero Aarnio Originals. It is a 1967 design and is one of the brand's first. It is an evolution of the initial design which was a basket woven out of rattan and turned over to turn it into a stool.
The Mushroom Stool was upgraded by the use of fibreglass - arguably one of the designer's favourite materials. It is not only much stronger than rattan but also long-lasting. Additionally, it allows the stool to be used indoors as well as outdoors as fibreglass can withstand the elements. Another benefit is that it can be finished in a variety of colours. This one is finished with a gel coating that gives it a high-sheen finish. The stool has a round tabletop and a body that narrows down and then broadens out again to form a base that is equal to the top.
The Mushroom Stool comes in two sizes. The smaller one has a height of 23cm and a diameter of 38cm while the larger one has a height of 30cm and a diameter of 50cm. It is available in a selection of neutral colours that work with any space.
