Rey Stool
The Rey Stool has been created by HAY for the brand HAY. It is based on the original Rey Collection that was designed by Swiss design maestro the late Bruno Rey in 1971. It has been relaunched in collaboration with Dietiker. It is inspired by what was originally known as the 3300 chair that holds its place in history as the most commercially successful chair ever designed in Switzerland.
The Rey stool has a round top made of aluminium that is supported by a frame made of lacquered die-cast aluminium. It is made using innovative screw-less wood-to-metal construction. The top sits on four legs with its diameter just touching the edges of the legs making it appear as if the top is floating over the frame. The four legs are made of slats that are lacquered to match the top. This construction also makes it possible to stack the stools for convenient storage.
The Rey Stool has a height of 46cm and a diameter of 46.5cm. While keeping most of the original elements, one thing that has been updated for the relaunch is the choice of colours that have different seat heights. The golden, slate blue and amber brown stools have seat heights of 46cm while the deep black one has a seat height of 46.5cm.
