9.5° Chair
The 9.5° Chair has been created by Rasmus B. Fex for the brand Frama. Danish designer Fex takes a highly conceptual approach to his work. He believes that art is as important as design and seeks to create new art and new designs that challenge the generic. He certainly defied tradition with the 9.5° Chair. This chair borrows from the Shaker style of furniture but is all its own in the detail of a seat with a geometric pattern. The designer wanted to pay homage to older, traditional woven chairs. It appears to lean to one side but is completely stable and safe to sit on. Made of ash wood, it has a seat that is raised out of its frame on one side and a missing end from one of the backrests. The whole idea is a piece that is as much about art as it is about design. The chair won the 2014 Furniture of the Year Award.
The 9.5° Chair has a height of 85cm, a width of 45cm and a depth of 40cm. It is displayed in the Knut Hamsun Museum in Norway and the Trapholt Museum in Denmark. For those interested in owning an uncommon piece, this would be the perfect choice.
