AJ Royal LED Suspension Lamp Ø 37cm
The AJ Royal LED Suspension Lamp Ø 37cm was designed by Arne Jacobsen for the brand Louis Poulsen.
Jacobsen was a superstar Danish designer in the mid 20th century, creating the Egg, Swan and Ant Chairs for Fritz Hansen and changing the face of furniture design. However, Jacobsen's lighting work for Danish label Louis Poulsen was equally influential, and the AJ Royal collection could be his defining contribution.
The Royal family of suspension lamps was created for Copenhagen's SAS Royal Hotel in the 1950s and retains its period style without feeling at all dated or irrelevant. The AJ Royal LED Suspension Lamp Ø 37cm is typical of the collection. It features a diffuser shaped like an upturned bowl, measuring 37cm in diameter and 16.5cm in height. The bowl has been crafted from lacquered aluminium and steel. By contrast, the natural texture of the interior reflects light from a fixed 16W LED bulb downwards while illuminating medium-sized spaces well. Users can suspend the lamp via an adaptable 300cm cable and the AJ Royal LED Suspension Lamp Ø 37cm can be dimmed with phasedimming using standard dimmers with either leading edge or trailing edge technology.
