Birdy Swing Table Lamp
The Birdy Swing Table Lamp has been created by Birger Dahl for the brand Northern. Norwegian industrial designer Dahl is known for designs characterised by simple elegance, optimised functionality and a love of nature. All of these themes are well represented in the Birdy Swing Table Lamp.
This lamp is a variation on the Birdy Lamp, which appeared in 1952 and won the 1954 Gold Medal at the Milan Triennale. Updated in 2021 by Northern, this version features a short lacquered steel stem that curves into a branch at the top. Like a bird perching on a tree, this branch holds a cone-shaped aluminium shade which widens slightly from its base to the downward-slanting aperture. An on/off switch can be found on the shade. The central stem fixes into a circular base that holds the lamp steady on all surfaces, while a steel or brass joint on the stem adds extra stability to the frame.
The Birdy Swing Table Lamp has a width of 42cm and a height of 55cm, with a base diameter of 12cm. it comes with a 200cm long cable and is available with a black shade and either a brass, plain black or steel frame. The lamp features an E27 socket inside the shade.
